Last Wednesday, as a Catholic school community, we celebrated Ash Wednesday Mass. Thank you to all the children, staff and families that attended this special celebration.
Throughout the celebration, the children reflected on the importance of Ash Wednesday and why as Catholics this is a very special time for us. As we continue our Lenten journey, the children will unpack the signs and symbols used during the Lenten Season. As a family, it is important to keep the season of Lent alive in your home. Take the time and opportunity to engage in dialogue with your children and discuss what Lent means to you as a family.
On Friday, Xena and Thomas began their Social justice journey by introducing the Project Compassion campaign. Over the next six weeks of Lent, Project Compassion brings together thousands of Australian schools, parishes and supporters to raise money for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world. As a school community, we will be working together by placing our compassion into action. Each child received a Project Compassion money box. The money raised will be sent to countries in need. Let us work together and put compassion into action. Throughout Lent, our social justice will be working together to organise ways in which we can make a difference to people less fortunate than ourselves.
As a school community, we would like to extend our thanks to Mr Watson for making us two wooden crosses. These crosses will be placed in the hall and 5/6 area. They will be used as a focal point for our children when engaging in prayer.
This year, our Year Three children will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as the Sacrament of Confession, is a Sacrament instituted by Jesus in his love and mercy to offer forgiveness for the times we have made poor choices and have turned away from Jesus. The Year 3 children, parents and carers will engage in an online workshop on Thursday 14th March at 7.00pm. Maria Forde will facilitate this workshop.
The Reconciliation celebration will take place on Thursday the 21st of March at 7.00pm at St Fidelis' church.
Our Year 6/Foundation Buddy Mass, will take place on Sunday, the 3rd of March at 11.00am at Fidelis' church. This is a great opportunity for our new and existing Foundation families to come together and celebrate the beginning of our children’s learning journey. This is a time for Foundation parents to meet their child’s Year 6 buddy.
Class masses will begin this Tuesday, the 20th of February at 9.15am. 3/4BP and 1/2VS will be attending mass. We invite all parents and carers to join us as we celebrate.
Thank you and God Bless,
Annette Gasbarro
