What's happening in the classrooms?

Literacy: Throughout the past fortnight we have looked at a couple of areas of learning such as 'authors purpose' and 'locating key information'. Both of these reading understandings help the students build strong comprehension skills. We have looked at persuasive texts and had a go at writing our own! We have also built upon our vocabulary skills and building word walls in our classrooms.

Numeracy: Our main focus this past fortnight has been looking at the four operations. We have been looking at strategies which help us solve problem. The students have learned about fact families, arrays, split strategies, the list goes on!

Inquiry: Well, our teachers and students were absolutely blown away by the incredible experience of the lovely team that came out to educate us about wheelchair basketball! The students found this an absolutely incredible experience and the teachers were impressed with everyones perseverence. Our unit 'In Someone's Shoes' helps us understand how others feel and how people with disabilities conduct their lives on a day to day basis. The students wrote a reflection afterwards which showed their appreciation for such a meaningful experience. Check out the pictures below!

Wellbeing: Over the next few weeks you might hear your child talking about 'ready to learn scales'. These scales are going to be introduced within all classrooms to help children understand their feelings and moods as they approach learning in each session. We will be building strategies such as brain breaks and tuning in activities to help our students be ready to achieve their best! Check out our design below!

Check out what we have been up to!

Here are some pictures of some determined and happy kids participating in wheelchair basketball this week!
