Head of Primary Years' Report

Welcome to the Hazel Glen College Primary Years Newsletter! In response to feedback from our community, through School Council and our School Review, we have moved to a fortnightly newsletter to capture the most important information for parents, to celebrate student learning, and collate key dates and reminders for our community.

The re-introduction of fortnightly PY Assemblies has been a highlight this term, as we come together regularly as a community to celebrate achievement and recognise what's going on across the College. We invite all parents along every second Friday at 2pm, in the Gym.

This year, our clear goal across the College is about establishing strong routines and high expectations. Part of this, all classrooms across the College are focused on the implementation of Positive Learning Routines. These routines are common to all classrooms of how we expect students to enter and exit classrooms, as well as how they move to different activities (Call to Action). We know, through clear evidence from the Department of Education's High Impact Wellbeing Strategies and High Impact Teaching Strategies, that clear, consistent routines establish safety and predictability for all learners, and helps them focus on learning. We are spending this year ensuring all classrooms are safe, calm and support all learners with predictable routines.

I wish all families a lovely weekend,
