Assistant Princpals Report

Term 2 was a full and rewarding term at PHSC, marked by strong student engagement, rich creative and cultural experiences, and some important milestone events across the school.
We administered the Attitudes to School Survey, giving students the opportunity to share their thoughts on their experience, engagement, and wellbeing at school. We were delighted by the response, with 98% of students completing the survey. This reflects a genuine willingness from our community to have their voices heard, and we look forward to using the data to inform our work in Term 3 and beyond.
Across Years 10 and 11, students have demonstrated real dedication in completing their end of semester examinations and ensuring their work is finalised as teachers prepare reports. It has been pleasing to see students approach this period with commitment and maturity, and we thank families for their support during what is always a busy time of the school year.
Year 12 students and those undertaking Units 3 and 4 subjects sat the GAT on 16 June. The commitment and preparation shown by our students on the day was excellent, and we thank staff for their continued support of this important milestone.
It has also been an exceptional term for the Arts. Our Year 12 Theatre Studies students performed Present Laughter, and our Year 10 students delivered a wonderful production of Metamorphosis. Our music programme was in full swing with VCE Music nights, Plugged, the Year 9 Music Night, Repertoire Soirée, and Unplugged Night, each showcasing the extraordinary talent across our school. Last week's Year 9/10 Art and Design Technology Show was a genuine celebration of student creativity and commitment. Meanwhile, rehearsals for Footloose are well underway ahead of performances at the Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre in Term 3 — those of us in the AP office have been enjoying the soundtrack on Monday and Thursday afternoons!
On the sporting front, it has been a busy term with interschool sport competitions, cross country, and athletics events giving students across all year levels the opportunity to represent PHSC and demonstrate their talents and team spirit.
Our Wellbeing team and students came together to celebrate IDAHOBIT Day with a rainbow party, a visible and joyful reflection of our inclusive school culture. Reconciliation Week was observed with particular care under the theme "All In," with an Indigenous art display, a bake sale, a library screening of Adam Goodes' documentary The Australian Dream, and a community crochet project bringing the theme to life.
Term 3 promises to be another exciting term. As subject selections open and we begin thinking about 2027 for the first time, there is much to look forward to. We thank the whole PHSC community for making Term 2 such a memorable one.
