Principals Report

A typically busy term 2 drew to a close with end of semester assessments, reports Year 10 Work Experience, Medieval Day, a veritable World Cup of interschool sport events, super impressive art exhibitions, wonderful  music and drama performances, and a crescendo of Footloose rehearsals as the show date draws near.  I commend the show - Footloose - our 2026 Musical Production to everyone, with a special shout out to staff Ash Phillips and Laura Fistric for their hardwork and inspiration. Get your tickets now!

Term 3 has begun with a fantastic and reimagined program for Year 9 Grow week after a very welcome winter break to refresh and restore. We look forward to our Year 8 X-C ski camps in the coming weeks, preparation for Y9 Wilderness Week and the Italian Language Study Tour where we return to Scuola Italiano Mondavio and will reconnect with community relationships first established in the 1990s.

In other encouraging news we have received 2026 NAPLAN data that continues to demonstrate how well our young people are performing academically.

We also celebrate and look forward to the continued success for our literacy and numeracy support program for students in Years 7&8. We are also always conscious of focussing on the learning growth of our students regardless of where they may be at any point in time.

Whilst it is invariably encouraging to see the academic achievement of our students, there are many other indicators student success. Our school mission talks about 'Learning to Live Together – the development of social skills and values such as respect and concern for others, and the appreciation of cultural diversity'.

I was moved to be contacted by a member of the public who had observed our Year 9 students at The Big Issue where they had heard a speaker talk about the challenges their journey had presented. Here is a little of what he had to say.

Dear Trevor,

It was great to talk to you today and recognise and celebrate your year 9 students.

I was lucky enough to observe your students leaving a Big Issue Talk in Melbourne on Tuesday.  I was so impressed with their authenticity, empathy, and encouragement they showed to their guest speaker. You and the Princes Hill Secondary College should be so proud of your students and your ability to grow compassionate young people.

It is these qualities that I am most proud of in my own children - past students of the school - and it is my profound hope that each of us is demonstrating these behaviours and and attributes a little more each day.
