Term 2 Update 

Big thanks to our Student Voice Team leaders Delilah and Dot, along with our SVT team who organised this week’s out of uniform day and gold coin donation towards National Police Legacy Day, raising $349.00.

National Police Legacy Day is celebrated annually on June 17 across Australia to honour fallen officers and provide lifelong support to their families.

In addition, by our SVT supporting the work of the Foundation, we are demonstrating to all current serving members of Vic Police that their work and commitment to the safety and care of our community is valued and respected, with particular mention and thanks to those families of serving members in our FPPS school community. 

Students were asked to dress with a touch of blue or come as what they would like to be when they grow up. We saw zoologists, doctors, soccer stars, vets, scientists, ballet teachers, police officers and footy players galore.

Terrific to see our SVT not only focusing on causes to help within the school, but larger community organisations that support and have a wider impact. 

School Council News - Enrolment Update

With Term 2 almost at a close, we have a current enrolment of 392 students and will welcome three new students who are moving into our area at the beginning of Term 3. Pleasingly, we also continue to see enrolments coming in for Foundation for 2027. It is now anticipated that we will run with three Foundation classes next year of approximately 20 students in each.

We tabled at School Council earlier this week, an enrolment update as we continue to be a school of choice for families in our area. We do have families outside of the area wishing to enrol students and are required to follow our enrolment management plan to ensure capacity for students in zone, this year and in the years to come.

The larger school tours for 2027 enrolments have now concluded and I am taking smaller tours for families moving into our area.  I would like to pay a special thanks to our School Captains – Danny, Olive, Lara and Tom who have done a wonderful job accompanying me on the school tours and sharing with new families all the wonderful things about our school, from a student perspective.

Congratulations Ms Van Ooi 

I am pleased to share that Elise (Ms Van Ooi) and her partner Mick are expecting their second child, a brother or sister for their beautiful daughter Mila. Elise will be taking family leave later in Term 3 and we will be recruiting for her replacement in the coming weeks (BIG shoes to fill in the PE Dept). I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Elise and her family on this very special news and impending arrival. 

Staffing Update 

We have some of our staff taking long service leave for parts of Term 3 and have been very fortunate to replace all staff members with familiar and experienced relief teachers who have been working at Fyans Park throughout the 2026 school year.

• Miss Burgess will be taking long service leave for the first week of Term 3 and will be replaced by Mr Scade in the office. 
• Mr Hambrook is taking long service leave for the first two weeks of Term 3 and he is replaced by CRT - Matt Johnston.
• Mr Bugler is taking long service leave from Weeks 3-8 and will be replaced by CRTs – Sarah Ratcliffe and Alyssa Canaway, with both staff well known to students and the school. 

Kelly Club Winter Holiday Program 

As we start looking ahead to the upcoming school holidays, I wanted to share the Kelly Club Winter Holiday Program, which will be running from Monday 29 June to Friday 10 July 2026. The Kelly Club team have put together a wonderful range of excursions, incursions and themed activity days, and they are looking forward to welcoming children back for another fun-filled program. Be sure to book in quickly to ensure your child/ren a spot. 

Biomimicry at the Geelong Botanical Gardens

On Wednesday 17 June twenty Year 5/6 students took part in an exciting STEAM excursion to the Geelong Botanic Gardens, where they explored the fascinating concept of biomimicry - design inspired by nature. Immersed in the beautiful surroundings on a perfect day, the students were encouraged to closely observe plant adaptations and think about how these features help plants survive in their environments. With a special focus on ferns, they examined how nature’s designs can solve real-world problems and then worked collaboratively to plan their own design projects inspired by these adaptations. The experience not only deepened their understanding of how nature works but also inspired their curiosity and creativity, showing them that when we take the time to observe closely, the world reveals itself as an incredibly fascinating place.

A big thanks to Miss Trigg, Maeve Manche and Jo Rix for accompanying our students, with the help of Mr Calnin in planning the day. 

Western Metro Regional Cross Country

Congratulations to Claire L and Harriet S who represented Fyans Park earlier this week at the Regional Cross Country in Keilor. An incredible effort to get to this stage of competition. 

Claire placed 1st in the Under 11 girls’ race, competing against 50 other students, securing her position in the State Champs to be held during Term 3.  Congratulations Claire! 

Wonderful news to also hear that Arlo S in 56B and his team, the U11 Geelong Rep Soccer Squad won the Grand Final Country Championships having been undefeated for the entire tournament. This is testament to the power of teamwork. Congratulations Arlo! 

As this is the final newsletter for Term 2, I wish all students and families a relaxing holiday break and look forward to seeing students back to school for the beginning of Term 3 on Tuesday 14th July.

I would like to also acknowledge the dedication and work of our leaders, teachers and Ed Support during the first half of the year and wish our staff team a relaxing and well-deserved break.

A big thank you to our dedicated F&F committee for their planning and organisation of events for students and families this term. I look forward to seeing parents on Friday night at the Soiree. 

A reminder that our Term 3 student free day is Monday 13th July and our staff will be participating in professional learning and planning for the term ahead. 

Lastly, our final assembly is scheduled for Friday 26th June beginning at 9.15am. Parents and Carers are most welcome to join with us on the green surface as we celebrate the end to another fabulous term of learning at Fyans Park.
