FROM THE CLASSROOM

There has been plenty of enthusiasm across the classrooms, particularly as students continued learning our new Talk for Writing unit, 'Unicorns'. They have loved learning about the different components of an information report and identifying the features that help readers find and understand information. They have also been exploring and using technical vocabulary related to specific topics.

In Mathematics, students have been learning how to solve addition and subtraction problems by partitioning numbers into smaller parts. They have been using a variety of strategies to break apart numbers, solve problems efficiently, and explain their mathematical thinking. It has been wonderful to see students growing in confidence as they apply these strategies to increasingly challenging problems.

During Wellbeing lessons, students explored different types of problems they may encounter and discussed positive strategies for solving them. To support our school values, students have also been designing posters about respect, helping to promote kindness, inclusion, and positive behaviour throughout the school community.

Following a visit from the local Councillor during Inquiry this week, students have been inspired to make a positive difference in our community. They have begun writing persuasive letters to the Principal, suggesting improvements for our school and explaining why these changes are important. Students have particularly enjoyed learning the formal structure and language of letter writing.

REMINDERS 

A friendly reminder about morning arrival times. 

Children need to be in their classroom and ready to start the day at 8:35 am each morning.

We understand that occasionally unexpected circumstances may cause your child to arrive late. However, we have recently noticed an increase in the number of students arriving after 8:45 am.

When students arrive late, they miss important learning opportunities and often do not have enough time to unpack their belongings and organise themselves for the day. Late arrivals can also interrupt the learning of other students who have already started their morning activities.

The school gates open at 8:30 am, and students are welcome to enter their classrooms from 8:35 am.

We appreciate your support in helping your child arrive on time each day so they can begin the day feeling settled and ready to learn. If there is anything we can do to support your family with morning routines or arrival times, please don't hesitate to let us know.
