Nominate a Year 6 student who is following in Fred Hollows’ footsteps
The Fred Hollows Foundation is calling for community members to nominate students for the 2026 Fred Hollows Humanity Award.
The Humanity Award celebrates Year 6 students who lead by example in their everyday lives, reminding us that no act of kindness is too small to be acknowledged. Nominations are now open and close 11.59 pm, Friday 24 July 2026. To nominate a student, go to Fred Hollows Humanity Award | The Fred Hollows Foundation AU | The Fred Hollows Foundation AU.
Each year, one outstanding nominee from each state and territory is selected as a Junior Ambassador for The Foundation. And every nominated student will be recognised with a certificate.
Specsavers will generously donate $50,000 on behalf of the Junior Ambassadors to help The Fred Hollows Foundation continue its work to end avoidable blindness globally.
Year 1 National Sorry Day
Our Year 1 students created a hand display to consolidate their learning about Sorry Day.
Whole School Displays
All students are participating in creating a collaborative display as part of their learning around Reconciliation Week events and the Hibiscus flowers that students created in the Wellbeing Wednesday lunch club are already on display in the entrance to the school.
Wellbeing Wednesday Lunch Club
Our Wellbeing Wednesday Lunch Club this week, led by our amazing Student Voice & Wellbeing Ambassadors, provided students a space to connect, recharge, and build the confidence and belonging that sit at the heart of our wellbeing approach at IPS.
Students thoughtfully decorated a Native Hibiscus which is the national emblem representing the Stolen Generation children who were forcibly removed. The Native Hibiscus, or Desert Rose grows wild all over Australia. It's symbolic because of its ability to survive and thrive in harsh conditions. We love seeing our students lead the way in creating a caring, inclusive school community!.
