Maths Talent Quest

Year 7 & 8

Well done to our Year 7 and 8 students who participated in this year's Maths Talent Quest. The MTQ is a competition that celebrates creative and investigative approaches to mathematics. Each of these young mathematicians produced a high quality project of their own design to explore a real-world context and showcase their problem-solving skills, creativity, and mathematical thinking beyond the classroom.

Congratulations to:

  • Lucas V, Year 8, who used linear equations and algebra to investigate the impact of deforestation.
  • Ted S, Year 7, who collected his own data and used statistics to describe how a basketball player's position affects their ability to score.
  • Mehan P, Year 8, who used the surface area of various 3D shapes to estimate the number of hairs on his dog, Astro.
  • Lewis M, Year 8, who used multiple statistical techniques to analyse the pitches and notes in piece of music from different perspectives.
