Year Level Captain's Report

Hi everyone,

It is hard to believe we are already a few weeks into Term 3! There has been so much incredible learning happening across Year 7, and it has been exciting to see everyone continuing to build on all that we have achieved so far. Here is what has been happening in our classrooms lately!

In BEST, we have started exploring mixtures, from salty water to sandy jars, and learning how they can be separated. We cannot wait to roll up our sleeves and dive into some hands-on experiments soon!

In Communicate and Relate, we are crafting our own ‘Coming of Age’ stories. It has been a wonderful opportunity to express ourselves creatively while mastering the skills to develop characters, create vivid settings, and write meaningful dialogue.

In Mathematics, we are exploring fractions by solving problems that help us see how parts fit into a whole.

In Innovate, we have been learning to navigate Tinkercad, a computer-aided design program. We are developing the skills to design our own product, which will take shape through 3D printing by the end of the project.

Through GOAL, we are creating our Career Action Plans, which help us identify our strengths, set clear goals, and map out steps towards our future careers. Above all, this reflection helps us understand ourselves better and discover what motivates us.

In Our World, we have been diving into the fascinating histories of ancient civilisations like Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, and India. Soon, we will share our learning by creating a museum exhibition that shows how geography, religion, colonisation, and trade shaped the way these societies lived and evolved.

In Create Visual/Performance, we are growing our creativity by developing both our art and acting skills. In Visual Arts, we have been experimenting with different materials and techniques to create our own artwork. In Performance, we are learning how to use voice, movement, and expression to bring characters and stories to life on stage. It has been a fun and fantastic way to build confidence and explore our creative sides!

In Japanese and French, we have been exploring the languages and cultures of Japan and France by discovering their unique customs and ways of life. We have also been learning how to greet others, introduce ourselves, and talk about everyday topics in both languages.

Beyond the classroom, we are staying active and having fun through a wide range of interschool sports. This term, our teams have continued to show great effort in every match, along with a strong commitment to each other and to the school’s sporting values.

What a fantastic term it has been so far! We have every reason to be proud of how we have all embraced and risen to the challenges.
