Our Queen Victoria Market excursion is this week!!.Ā

Meeting Point: Students will need to meet their teachers at Croydon Station in the foyer, undercover near the ticket box at 8:30am.

Pick up Point: Students will need to be picked up from Croydon Station in the same location at 2:55 (train arrives at 2:52).Ā

Ā

Keep an eye out for more information in your emails! Parent helpers will receive detailed communication this week.Ā

Ā

🌱 WELLBEING

Students will participate in lessons preparing them for the Queen Victoria Market excursion including being safe in the city and on the train and speaking and listening etiquette when speaking with and purchasing from stall holders.

Ā

🌱 LITERACY

In Literacy, students will continue developing their reading comprehension and analysis skills by closely examining the first chapter of Kensuke’s Kingdom. They will participate in a cloze activity to reinforce vocabulary and understanding, and explore the historical context of the Queen Victoria Market to support their thinking. In Writing, students will focus on procedural texts, learning how to clearly sequence and explain steps through the topic of how to travel on a train.

Ā

To support your child at home, ask your child to summarise what’s happening in Kensuke’s Kingdom and talk about the characters, setting, and any interesting vocabulary they come across.

  • Practise procedural writing: Encourage your child to write or talk through everyday tasks step by step—like making a sandwich or packing a school bag—to build sequencing skills.
  • Use public transport together: If you’re catching a train, involve your child in reading timetables, planning the route, or purchasing a ticket to make the learning more practical and engaging.
  • Read regularly: Set aside time each day for independent or shared reading and talk about the books your child is reading at school and at home.

🌱 NUMERACY

In Numeracy this week we will be revisiting money maths ahead of our excursion. Students will be focusing on using cash to choose from menus and make purchases as well as strategies for checking that they have received correct change.Ā

Ā

At home, you can support your child by practising basic multiplication and division facts together and encouraging them to explain how the two operations are connected. Please also encourage your child to work on Mathletics.

Ā

🌱 CBL

There will be a modified CBL program this week due to the Queen Victoria Market Excursions and other extra curricular activities.

Ā

At home, you could support your child by discussing what they enjoyed, found interesting and learnt after attending the excursion to the Queen Victoria Market..

Ā

🌿 REMINDERS

🌱 Please assist your child in ensuring that their iPad comes to school every day, fully charged.

🌱 Check that your child has headphones which work and connect to their iPad.

🌱 We are currently missing a number of books from the Library. Can you please help your child to check if any overdue Library books are hiding with them at home.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP IN LANTANA

Please be mindful of the road signs on Lantana Road. It is a NO PARKING zone in front of the school, during school start and finish times. To ensure a smooth and safe process, we have a designated pick-up system at the end of the day where a teacher monitors and guides students into cars lined up in the queue. This system works efficiently when there are no parked cars breaching the signage during these times. Thank you for your cooperation.
