Hello to all of our families,

A Busy and Insightful Start to Term 3

Term 3 is off to a busy and exciting start! On Monday, we were pleased to welcome Dave Wilkins, an experienced educational consultant who has worked with Wonga Park Primary over many years. Dave spent the day engaging with groups of parents, School Council members, and students to capture the voices of our learning community in preparation for our upcoming school review.

One of the highlights of the day was listening to our students, from Prep to Grade 6, as they shared their thoughts and experiences. I was incredibly fortunate to be part of these conversations and hear their insightful perspectives. The students spoke with clarity and confidence about their learning, what matters most to them, where they love to play, and what helps them feel safe, connected, and able to do their best. Their love for their school, their teachers, their friends, our beautiful play spaces and of course, the oak tree - shone through in every conversation.

Dave also met with a range of parents, some new to our school community, others with long-standing connections, and some serving on School Council. The ideas, questions, and feedback gathered during these sessions, along with responses from the Parent Survey, will help shape the direction of our next four-year school plan.

We are thrilled to have received over 100 Parent Survey responses - what an incredible show of support! Thank you to every parent who took the time to share their thoughts. If you haven’t yet completed the survey, there’s still time - it will remain open until tomorrow. We’d love to hear from you!

Learning Beyond the Classroom

This week, our students are engaging in a rich variety of learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom setting, each designed to build essential skills and knowledge that will serve them well into the future.

From Grade 3/4 Hooptime and P–2 Gymnastics, to Matilda Jr. rehearsals, Queen Victoria Market excursions, Grade 3 Cultural Cooking, and the Grade 5/6 Adolescent Health program, there’s a strong focus on developing the whole child.

These hands-on, real-world experiences foster creativity, teamwork, confidence, critical thinking, and cultural understanding - skills that are vital for lifelong learning and personal growth. It’s great to see our students embracing these opportunities and thriving in such  dynamic learning environments.

Staffing Update

This week we farewell our much-loved Natalia who has been a special part of our WP team. A supportive, generous and kind colleague and a wonderful and caring prep teacher for so many of our littlest people.  We wish Natalia and Georgio all the very best as they await the arrival of their little bundle of joy! We will miss you Mrs D!

Prep 2026 Enrolment Offers

Today, Kerry made offers to families for our 2026 Prep enrolments. We’re thrilled to have received such strong interest in Wonga Park Primary as the school of choice for so many families. We’re already looking forward to welcoming three Prep classes in 2026 and beginning the journey with our newest learners and their families.

Parent, Teacher, Student Interviews

Last week’s interviews provided a wonderful opportunity for teachers, students, and parents to come together and celebrate the learning achievements of Semester 1, as well as set goals for the term ahead.

If you weren’t able to meet with your child’s classroom teacher, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to arrange an alternative time.

Congratulations Victoria J

A huge congratulations to Victoria, one of our talented Grade 5 students, for her incredible achievement in placing 30th at the State Cross Country event last week! We are so proud of the way she represented Wonga Park PS with such determination and enthusiasm.

Have a great week and stay warm!

Kind regards

Julie
