Science

It’s been a hands-on and engaging start to Term 3 in Science!
In our junior classes, students are exploring scientific concepts through practical activities, from observing and trialling a variety of techniques used to separate mixtures in year 7, to using microscopes in year 8 to uncover the hidden world of cells. These investigations are helping students build confidence in their scientific skills and curiosity about the world around them.
Further up the school, year 9 students recently put their understanding of forces and motion to the test in an egg drop challenge, applying Newton’s Laws in creative ways. Our Year 10 students have now moved into new science electives, with subjects including Biology/Environmental Science, Physics/Chemistry, Forensics, and Psychology. We hope they’re settling in well and enjoying the variety on offer.
VCE Biology students began the term with an excursion to Casey Tech School, where they applied genetic techniques to diagnose Huntington’s disease - a valuable opportunity to experience science in action and connect their classroom learning to real-world biotechnology.
We’re looking forward to another productive term of discovery and learning in Science!
