We had some very exciting lessons last week…observing some frog spawn and tadpoles!!! No, unfortunately these were not from the school pond, but from the pond at my home. The encouraging thing though is that this is the first time I have had them in my pond in the few years that I have had it, so with patience, we will eventually see frog life in our school pond. Who knows, maybe even in spring, now that the pond is so well established.
It was fun looking at the tadpoles up close in a small aquarium, and we will continue to observe them as they develop over the coming weeks.
Year 3 & 4
Students are learning about how mirrors work. We have investigated how mirrors are made and work, how to create multiple images with more than one mirror, and how the shape of a mirror (eg. concave, convex) changes the reflected image.
Year 5 & 6
We began learning about wicking beds in preparation for gardening lessons in the new kitchen garden. Students enjoyed learning about the science behind the effectiveness of wicking beds, applying their prior knowledge of the capillary action of water.
