With opening night just around the corner, the Tullow Performing Arts Centre has been buzzing with energy, laughter, and a whole lot of singing and dancing.
After months of rehearsals, set-building, costume fittings, and choreography boot camps, the cast and crew are pulling together the final touches. Students have been giving it their all, balancing schoolwork with extra rehearsals, learning harmonies, mastering lines, and fine-tuning those iconic dance numbers that are sure to have audiences singing along.
Behind the scenes, our dedicated tech team has been hard at work on lighting, sound, and props, while the art and textiles departments have helped bring East High to life through vibrant sets and stand out costumes. Teachers and support staff have rallied together, mentoring and encouraging the students every step of the way.
Whether you’re Team Troy, rooting for Gabriella, or can’t wait to see Sharpay steal the spotlight, this show promises fun, heart, and plenty of high-energy moments. It’s not just a musical, it’s a feel-good experience for the whole Killester community.
So grab your tickets, warm up your vocal cords, and get ready to be dazzled—because we're all in this together!

Make a Difference Fundraiser - A Warm Success!
On August 1st, our Yr12 Vocational Major students proudly hosted their Make a Difference Fundraiser, and the results were nothing short of inspiring. By selling their handmade heat bags for just $10 each, they raised an incredible $600 – all of which will be donated to the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Program, providing much-needed support to those in our wider community.
The generosity and enthusiasm of our school community truly lived up to the fundraiser’s name. Every purchase, every kind word, and every show of support helped make this initiative a success.
A special and heartfelt thank you goes to Julie Jewell (parent of Ms Jewell) for her incredible generosity in donating the materials to create the heat bags, as well as her time and encouragement in helping the VM students bring their project to life.
We are so grateful to everyone who supported this cause. Together, we really did make a difference.

Dante Alighieri Italian Poetry Competition 2025
The Dante Alighieri Italian Poetry Recitation Competition is a prestigious competition that has been running at Melbourne University, Carlton, for many years. This year, the Poetry Competition took place on Friday, 27th June, and there were over 2000 students participating from schools all over Victoria. It was a great opportunity for students to practise and extend their Italian pronunciation skills and deliver a meaningful poem. We had 70 students participate across year 9, 10 and 11. Recitation is a highly valuable experience in Language learning, and these competitions are an excellent way to enrich the study of the Italian language and culture.

Year Ten Lawn Bowls
On Tuesday the 5th of August, the Year 10 Fatima class with Ms Sadler had the exciting opportunity to visit Burden Park Lawn Bowling Club in Springvale as part of our Physical Education program. This term, our PE topic focuses on physical activity and recreational pursuits, exploring different ways to stay active in our lives.
Lawn bowls is a sport many of us had never tried before, so it was the perfect activity to demonstrate how physical activity can be enjoyable, accessible to people of all ages and a way to socially interact with others. The excursion also tied into our Theory lessons on Community Health, giving us experience of how local clubs like Burden Park Bowls provide opportunities for people to stay healthy and engage in sport in our local community.
When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly club staff, who were excited to share their knowledge and passion for the game. They explained the rules then showed us how to handle the bowls, and taught us how to aim towards the ‘kitty’, which was the small ball that was our target. After some practice, we all competed in a friendly game where a prize was awarded to the player who landed their bowl closest to the ditch.
The session was both fun and educational, teaching us a new sport that many of us had never tried before. It was a great reminder that physical activity doesn’t always have to be intense to be rewarding. The Killester community would like to thank the staff at Burden Park Bowls Club for hosting such an enjoyable experience. All Year 10 students enjoyed the day and deeply appreciate the role that community sports play in keeping us active.
