This past week, I had the pleasure of stepping out of the office to visit some of our students participating in activities around town.
I joined our Foundation students during their visit to the kindergarten, and it was wonderful to see them so engaged, confident, and caring as they interacted with the kinder children.
I also dropped into the Rex Theatre to see our FLO students in action as they ran the café. They did an outstanding job preparing and serving coffee to customers. I was lucky enough to enjoy a cup, and it was excellent!
In addition, I visited CHARTSEC while lessons were underway for some visiting schools. It was great to see the program in action and the focus on building important road safety skills. This is an amazing resource for the community and for all schools who use this facility.
I would like to inform families that we have had some reported cases of influenza (flu) among students. If your child is unwell or showing flu-like symptoms, we kindly ask that you keep them at home and seek advice from your healthcare provider. Your support is vital in helping us maintain a healthy and safe environment for all.
NAPLAN results have recently been sent home with your child. These results provide valuable information about your child’s progress in key areas such as reading, writing, language conventions, and numeracy. Please remember that NAPLAN is just one measure of your child’s learning, and it is important to consider their overall development and achievements as well. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s results, please don’t hesitate to contact the College.
Leigh Van Boven has been accepted into the Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) Year 10 Enrichment Elective Program for Semester 2. The elective Leigh has selected is Critical Thinking for Creative Minds. The program aims to extend and challenge students who are interested in these important foundations of successful university study: research, critical thinking, and computational thinking. Next Monday, Leigh will attend the first of three seminar days. This is an opportunity for him to visit the CHES building and meet his teachers in person, build connections with like-minded students from across the state and conduct intensive work on his course. The College congratulates Leigh on his selection in the program and wishes him all the best.
Charlton College will be celebrating Book Week in the week of 18th of August to 22nd of August. This year’s theme is Book an Adventure.
The highlight of Book Week is our dress-up day, which will be held on Friday 22nd of August. We would encourage all students and staff to come dressed as a character from a book or from the theme. On Friday morning during Advisory (9.00am) the students and staff will gather outside to see each other’s costumes. There will be prizes for the best dressed.
