Our focus for the next fortnight is around How we speak to others. Teachers will be explicitly teaching the routine to children on how to 'How we speak to others’ correctly. Teachers will follow the principles of PBIS (Positive Behaviours Interventions & Supports) by:

Teach - Teach the appropriate skills and behaviours

Model - Model to students the appropriate skills and behaviours

Practise - Practise by acting out role plays

Acknowledge - Teachers will acknowledge students when they demonstrate the behaviours by positive reinforcement

Correct - by extra social skill instruction where needed.

Bully No Way: National week of action

The theme for 2025 is 'Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.'

It takes courage to spark change.

Bullying is everyone's responsibility. It takes a community to be brave and address bullying behaviours, within and beyond the school gate.

Students can be bold, kind and take a stand to support others being bullied. While parents and teachers are there to support children and young people learn how to behave in a positive way.

In our community and in our school, we want a place where everyone can belong, a place that celebrates everyone, and where bullying is never accepted.

This Bullying No Way Week, we're asking students, schools, families and communities to be bold and say something, be kind and support someone, and be proud to take a stand against bullying.

Did You Know St Therese’s Has a Casserole Bank?

One of the beautiful pastoral care initiatives at St Therese’s is our Casserole Bank—a freezer stocked with home-cooked meals ready to support families in our community who might be going through a tough time or just need a little extra TLC.

Right now, our freezer is empty, and we need your help!

Could you cook an extra meal, or double your dinner recipe and set one aside? Maybe whip up an extra batch of muffins or a tray (dish/pot) of something simple and nourishing? Every contribution—big or small—makes a real difference.

Drop-off: Meals can be brought to the school office, clearly labelled with ingredients and date.

Engagement of Volunteers

At St Therese’s Primary School, Kennington the safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority. To uphold our commitment to child safety, ALL Volunteers are required to review and acknowledge our Child Safe Code of Conduct, Staff & Students Professional Boundaries Policy and Photography & Video Policy and Procedures. Additionally, Volunteers must complete a Volunteer Registration form and successfully complete the CESL School Volunteer Induction before commencing their role as a Volunteer.

We deeply value the contributions of our Volunteers and appreciate your support in maintaining a culture of care and protection. Together, we can continue to provide a safe and nurturing space for every child to thrive.

Volunteer Registration Form

All Volunteers will be asked to:

Complete a Volunteer Registration form (including personal details, Working with Children Check (WWCC) and 2 personal referees), please inform your referees they will be contacted by the school in relation to your volunteering.
Once you have completed the Volunteer Registration form and are approved to Volunteer at the school, you will be sent an email with a link to access the required training:

(Please note – Completing this induction replaces the previous onsite induction interview)

CESL School Volunteer Induction; and
Read and acknowledge the Child Safe Code of Conduct, Staff & Students Professional Boundaries Policy and Photography & Video Policy and Procedures.

All Volunteers will be required to update details at the start of each year and inform the school of any changes to your circumstances or updates to your WWCC. All Volunteers will need to complete the CESL School Volunteer Induction and read and acknowledge all relevant safeguarding policies at the start of each school year even if an existing Volunteer.

All information received regarding volunteering and providing referee details will be maintained in line with CESL Privacy Policy.

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships

As we commence Term 3, this term our units will continue to engage in Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships lessons. The Respectful Relationships program supports schools to promote and model respect, positive attitudes and behaviours. It teaches our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.

Our units are currently focusing on these topics:

Foundation: Stress Management - Students will recognise and identify their own emotions and understand how they influence the way they feel and act.

Year One: Positive Coping - Students will reflect on their emotional responses and discuss ways they can take responsibility for their actions.

Year Two: Gender & Identity - Students will reflect on their identity: likes, dislikes, strengths, and develop an awareness of positive and negative gender norms.

Year Three: Positive Coping - Students will identify and describe strategies to manage and moderate emotions in a range of familiar and unfamilar situations.

Year Four: Gender & Identity - Students will analyse their multifaceted identities, and the restricting effects of negative gender norms, along with identifying the enabling effects of positive gender norms.

Year Five: Positive Coping - Students will describe the range and influence of personal qualities and strengths.

Year Six: Gender & Identity - Students will identify the standards and associated actions that underpin respectful gender relations.
