From the Classroom

What's happening in 3/4

Last Wednesday, the 34 Unit boarded a 'plane' to the African and Asian continents were they made Festima masks, Chinese lanterns and dumplings, made a Korean card game and had sushi for lunch. Students were actively engaged in a variety of roles, such as airline stewards, baggage controllers and passport security. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely and it was a great way to celebrate the end of our inquiry unit. Please check out our Facebook page for photos.

This week students watched the mini series of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and had the opportunity to taste some authentic Turkish Delight. Carols practice has been ongoing this week and the main goal has been participation and enjoyment! We hope you enjoy it too and we hope to see you there!

Thank you for being so understanding with all the changes that the 34 unit has undergone this year due to unforseen circumstances. We have really enjoyed working with your children we are all looking forward to a fantastic 2024!

Adventures of 1/2

Our classrooms were buzzing with joy and excitement on Wednesday, as students participated in end-of-term class parties filled with laughter, and delightful homemade treats(thankyou for your contributions). We combined the classes to celebrate the end of the year approaching and enjoyed each other company, reflecting on the year we have had.

Another fun activity the students loved this week was making Biscuit Houses. In pairs they worked together to create a biscuit masterpiece Students indulged their creativity and artistic flair by constructing charming little houses using biscuits, icing, and M&M's. Some made battle forts, others made show wonderlands and some just little tents with chimneys. The students then wrote incredible procedure texts describing how they made their biscuit houses using their learned knowledge of procedure texts from earlier on in the term. The room was filled with the sweet aroma of creativity as colorful candies and icing transformed simple biscuits into edible works of art. How fun!

We have also been practicing very hard for our school carols and have enjoyed working together to create actions to our class songs!

We are so thankful to all the incredible families from both 1/2 classes and we appreciate all the patience, time and understanding you've had this year with all the changes we have gone through with staff this year. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with your kids and we cant wait to see where 2024 takes them!

From a very proud grade 1/2 team,

Lee, Jenny and Caitlin.

Fantastic Foundation

It has been a fun filled and exciting few days in our Foundation classroom. On Tuesday students participated in their Step Up Day and got to meet their new teachers. After some nerves they returned to our class and shared their excitement with their friends. It was wonderful to hear how inclusive our students were to new students. We have had an amazing time celebrating with our buddies and making cards together. On Wednesday, students enjoyed our end-of-term class party with lots of delicious treats and dancing. Thank you to our wonderful families who brought along some amazing food to share.

We have been busily practising for our Christmas Carols on Thursday night and I am sure that our students will be amazing. Students have had some fun activities this week with the culmination of our letter writing unit in Literacy being writing to Santa. There was so much joy and happiness when they received their letters back from Santa and his elves.

As we near the end of the year, thank you to all the families that have helped at school,  volunteered in some way or supported your child in being the best they can be. We really appreciate all the time and effort that you put in. It has been wonderful to see how much the Foundation students have grown and I am incredibly proud of just how they are becoming responsible and respectful learners.
