School Council

Hi all,

What a year!

It would be easy to look back on 2023 as a tick-box list of achievements:

  • New playground (thanks Michael Sukkar and Rotary Club of Maroondah)
  • New mural (thanks to our school community for fundraising for it)
  • Grounds looking spick and span (thanks to everyone who attended working bees)
  • New principal (welcome Tim!!)
  • New OHSC provider (welcome Their Care!)
  • 19 new Chromebooks (thanks PA and everyone who supported the fundraising).

While this tells us it has been a massive year (and it has been), it doesn’t show what is at the heart of MPS and driven us this year in particular – our community.

Through some tricky and uncertain times, it has been the passion and dedication of our community that has shone through.

Our gratitude to our amazing teachers and ES staff who have stood tall through five different leaders and various challenges during the year, with wonderful support from Nat and Christina in the office. An extra special thanks to Pippa and Lisa for their efforts as Operational Leaders!

The PA continued to deliver exciting and fun fundraising events, and everyone will benefit from the 19 new Chromebooks.

Our families demonstrated fantastic levels of patience, kindness and support as we recruited a new principal, while also supporting our fundraising efforts, thank you.

I would also like to thank my fellow members of School Council – your hours of dedication and passion are much appreciated, MPS is lucky to have you!

With Tim onboard, we are excited about what 2024 and beyond holds for MPS!  I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable break.

OSHC

Bookings are now open with our new OSHC provider Their Care – they will be commencing on 30th January, which is a pupil free day.  A few points to note:

  • Camp Australia will conclude on Friday 19th January (see attached summary)  - if there are no bookings one week prior, then that day will be cancelled.
  • Learn more about Their Care https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIme1bzi_8w&t=1s
  • Register your children with Their Care at www.theircare.com.au – it’s relatively easy and takes 15-20
  • minutes.
  • If you think your child might need extra assistance at Their Care, please inform Tim. A member of the Their Care will contact you to understand your child’s support needs

Regards

Cheers,

Clare
