Learning and Teaching in 1/2KG

Term 4 has been a busy but very exciting time in 1/2KG. 

As we finish our school year, we would like to show you a snapshot of what we learnt and explored this term!

 

 

Team Building Challenge

We read a story called “ 21 Elephants''. This was a story about how people had to work together to make the bridge strong enough for elephants to walk over. We then built our own bridges made out of paper so it could hold 21 teddies. The team building challenge was a lot of fun and taught us about the importance of working together to achieve a goal.

 

 

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden 

The cooking classes have been a highlight for our class. We love the experience of picking our own food, preparing it together and then sitting down as a class and eating our creations. Everyone loved the lemon and blueberry muffins!

 

 

Myuna Farm

We had an exciting excursion to Myuna Farm. We had a lesson about the different types of eggs,  learnt about chickens and we even got to milk one of the goats. We went to the animal nursery and got to hold rabbits, guinea pigs, goats and lambs. Feeding the farm animals was great fun and we also went on a train ride to the wetlands. We saw lots of flying foxes hanging from the trees. They were very smelly!!

 

Procedure Writing

We became little authors. Writing about the process of making hot chocolate was a wonderful way to develop procedural writing skills while also enjoying a tasty treat. We had lots of fun making the hot chocolate! It tasted yummy and we especially liked eating the marshmallows.

 

 

Beebots

Exploring the world of programming and directional skills, we eagerly embraced Beebots in our learning journey. Through hands-on activities, we programmed these friendly robots to follow specific directions, enhancing our understanding of spatial concepts and fostering a love for coding.

 

 

Mini Boss Incursion

Our Mini Boss Incursion was a wonderful experience! We became little designers and creative thinkers! Throughout the day students worked in teams to solve a series of creative challenges designed to activate their imaginations and test their collaboration skills. They worked through the design thinking process and understood how better to share ideas, problem solve and work as a team.

 

 

Foaming Monsters

Transforming into budding scientists, we excitedly embarked on a hands-on experiment, making foaming monsters by combining various ingredients. As fizzing reactions unfolded, laughter and curiosity filled the room, turning the exploration of science into a memorable and engaging experience.
