Principal's Panorama

Zoe Nugent

What a wonderful past couple of weeks we have had at St Mary of the Angels Guyra.

Last week seeing the brilliance of our young people and the joy they demonstrated in their performances at Creative Arts Night was heartwarming.

Thank you, to our skilled helpful adults for their support of our young people and thank you to the Guyra Central team for their time and facilities.  We are all one community, and partnerships between schools are vital in order to support our young people to be fully supported in our community.

Additionally, I must thank the SMOTA School Community for their feedback on the evening.  The things they learnt and are proud of their child about, all the way through to ... suggestions for improvement and changes.

We cannot thank you enough!  There cannot be improvement, without feedback to provide data to have a discussion.

Some of the feedback is attached:

Congratulations to all of our students who participated in our rehearsals and or performance evening. You are the real MVP's.

Transition Morning Tea and Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal:

Wednesday saw St Mary of the Angels celebrate two special events.  Our Mass on Wednesday was expertly conducted by out Year 1/2 students and saw our Mini Vinnies members celebrated as they presented our communities donations to Sue Adams from the St Vincent de Paul, Guyra Conference.

Your donations assist people experiencing poverty and inequality in Guyra.  St Vincent de Paul Society and our Mini Vinnies are working hard to shape a more just and compassionate society, one step at a time. Miss Outridge, you are to be commended on the leadership and compassion that you are teaching these wonderful young people to have for their peers and community.

Safe Collection Expectations for BUS/PICKUP Safety:

Here at St Mary of the Angels, we have been working hard to help our young people get to buses and to their parents/carers as quickly as possible of an afternoon.  Thank you to those people that support these efforts by ensuring they follow the rules that have been set for effective and safe collection.

Please ensure that all other helpful adults who collect your child are aware of the Safe Collection Expectations.

If you are collecting your child from school:

  • If you would like to talk to friends/ other parents/ educators: please park across the road on the roundabout, exit your vehicle and cross the road to the school.

If you are completing a quick collection:

  • Please DO NOT exit your vehicle
  • Please DO NOT engage in conversations with other parents/carers/educators that prevent the smooth running of the car collection line.
  • Please move up the parking space to ensure that more parent/carers can fill in behind you.
  • Please do not park at the entry of the car park, as this creates a bottleneck and does not allow for buses to get away in time and for students to be collected safely.
  • If you are asked by another parent/carer or educator to please move up the collections line, please listen and respect others by complying with the collection expectations.

Avila Leadership Course

Ms Eli Simpson and I have been extremely fortunate to have been accepted into a pilot leadership programme from Catholic Schools New South Wales, there have only been 35 places offered over the whole of NSW in this program that runs 2023/2024..

The Avila Leadership Course acknowledges the demands of educational leadership, governance and operations in a contemporary Catholic context and has been designed to support principals to build the skills, knowledge, behaviours and capabilities to effectively respond to these demands.

As a requirement of the programme, all of the participants will shadow experienced Principals and will complete a Leadership in Practice Project.  I am sure I will be sharing more with you over the next year.

We are looking forward to seeing you next Tuesday for Presentation Evening.

Blessings for a gentle weekend!
