Material and Services

This year we once again ran online polling for Material and Services for all year levels.

A poll of our families has been conducted for the Reception, Year 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 school fees in 2024. The proposed fee is $426 which could be legally recoverable.

The Polling Officer has informed us that 60% of respondents were in favour of this proposal.

Therefore, in 2024 the school fees for Reception, Year 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 school fees in 2024 will be fully recoverable.

The other poll was for Year 3 School fees in 2024. The proposed fee is $861 which could be legally recoverable.

The Polling Officer has informed us that 75% of respondents were in favour of this proposal.

Therefore, in 2024 the school fees Year 3 of $861 will be fully recoverable.

Material and Services play a vital role in supporting the school's operation in conjunction with funding provided by the Department for Education (DfE). DfE uses the Index of Disadvantage to determine school funding.

Due to our Index of Disadvantage level, we receive less funding than the large majority of schools across the state.  Due to this Materials and Services play a huge role in the effective financial management of the school. Undertaking polling to make them legally recoverable ensures that all families are committed to paying Material and Services and that outstanding fees can be recovered.

If polling is unsuccessful unpaid fees are not able to be recovered. This is especially prevalent in Year 3 with the Chromebooks. If the Material and Services are not legally recoverable the school is not able to recover the cost of unpaid Chromebooks.

This impacts school budgets and spending on student learning which is our core purpose. It also ensures that all families equally contribute to school funding.

Lots of conversation is held at Governing Council meetings by our parent representatives as we want to keep costs down as much as possible.

The cost of living is on the rise for everyone. When setting Material and Services Governing Council has families in mind. It is a fine line trying to work out the right amount taking into account the school's educational objectives and what funding is received from the department.

Material and Services are used for a variety of purposes  including:

  • Stationery
  • Classroom resources
  • ICT Resources
  • Library Resources

This is just a short list of how Materials and Services support our students.

We appreciate everyone's support with polling to ensure we can continue to grow this amazing school.
