Berthe Mouchette Awards

On Tuesday 28 November, nearly 350 people gathered at St Kilda Town Hall to celebrate  the winners of the 129th Berthe Mouchette Poetry Competition!

It's already 129 years since the very first French-language poetry competition was created by Mrs Berthe Mouchette, founder of the Alliance Française de Melbourne! At the time, the annual report for 1894 indicated that when the competition was announced, 80 students immediately signed up ! Today, there are almost 9,000 entrants from 92 schools across Victoria, making Berthe Mouchette the largest French-language poetry competition outside France!

Congratulations to Lucie 3/4D who represented Fitzroy Primary School and took the award: Prix Hors-Catégorie! What a wonderful achievement!
