In our Garden

Stormy Weather!

The sudden storms have brought lots of replenishing rain as well as a little chaos.  It has been beautiful to wake up to the moist, sweet scented air and feel like we have had a little visit from the tropics.  The garden has responded with bountiful berries and our luscious youngberries featured in last weeks' cooking.

Grade 4/5 W

Mr Smith and The White Roses (Maya, Jadah, Olivia and Maddy) did a great job sweeping the footpath after all the rain washed our mulch over it.

Cheese Pushrooms, (Archer, Oscar, Alexis, Theo and Louen), had an exciting time harvesting potatoes.  Every time Archer uncovered one he yelled "Eureka!"

The Eggplants (George, Julian, Daniel, Zane and Alistair) collected 5 barrow loads of compost from the top compost bays and stockpiled it on the verge.  It's very tricky to balance a heavy wheelbarrow and they did a great job.  Hopefully they will also transfer some of the driving and traffic management skills that they have been learning in Bike Ed!

Grade 2/3 D

Cabbage Moths (Jayde, Atticus, Sidney, Hunter, Toby and Jaxon) worked their core muscles hard sifting compost with 2 bags of beautiful soft material produced to help make our potting mix.

Crazy Coconuts (Angus, Addi, Ryda, Pippa, Eadie, Cora) built compost by harvesting soil from the chicken run and layering it with straw and weeds.

Blueberries (Ally, Ivy, Akira and Angela) were very careful with secateurs and trimmed the herbs that had gone a bit wild out over the path.

2/3 MB

Magic Monkeys enjoyed harvesting strawberries!

Summer Seedling Give Away!

Next Wednesday 6th Dec and Thursday 7th Dec from 3:00 - 3:30, there will be a selection of summer seedlings for families to pick up under the Webster Street sign.

We have strawberries, chilli, basil, bottle gourd, cucumber, tansy, mint, sage, oregano, yarrow and others.

We have plenty of pruning that needs to be done, can you help? Please come and see me if you can help.

Happy Gardening!
