Celebration of Song

Lyndale had the pleasure of hosting the Celebration of Song on Tuesday 21 October. This special event brought together six local school choirs to perform for one another in a celebration of community and music. Each of the following schools brought their choirs to perform two songs: Lyndale Secondary College, Silverton Primary School, Athol Road Primary School, Chandler Park Primary School, Wallarano Primary School, and Keysborough Gardens Primary School.

We were all blown away by the talent of these students and their incredible voices. We are so excited to have been involved in this event and look forward to participating in an even bigger version next year.

"Wali’s Newstart Adventure"

This term, Year 10 student Wali Oryakhil had the opportunity to take part in the Newstart Program, an exciting experience designed to build teamwork, confidence, and new skills.

Wali’s highlights included rock climbing, where he challenged himself to climb as high as possible with his belay partner Evee — making it halfway up the wall! He also enjoyed the swim check, learning essential lifesaving skills such as how to rescue someone using floats, ropes, and noodles.

A special moment for Wali was working with Motley the Rapper, who taught him how to write and perform his own rap. Wali’s performance, which showcased Motley's “three golden rules” — Rhyming, Timing, and Aligning — was even played at the Newstart graduation. Throughout the program, Wali also took part in team challenges, volunteered at Myuna Farm, and earned certificates in swimming and first aid.

Reflecting on the experience, Wali said he is grateful for the opportunity and would like to thank his family, friends, and mentors Declan, Shannon, Evee, and Gee for their support."
