What's On In Performing Arts

It was time to bring out the Razzle Dazzle, as our students took to the stage for our Whitehorse Primary School production - Step into the Spotlight! And step into the spotlight they did indeed! After months of intense rehearsing, in their Footsteps and Performing Arts lessons, classrooms (thank you teachers!) and homes, it was finally time to don our costumes and strut our stuff! Over the past several months, students had been meticulously learning and rehearsing a specially choreographed dance routine, and the excitement on the performance day was palpable! The energy was buzzing, and seeing our students lining up in the wings, wearing their snazzy outfits, their faces lit with the glow of the stage lights as they watched their peers shine in their routine was absolutely priceless.

In Visual Arts classes, all students had worked collaboratively to co-create a beautiful backdrop, representing their song and dance. Every student had contributed to this stunning design and had put their personal stamp on it.

I had the privilege of working in the wings, helping our students get ready before going on stage, and watching them perform from the side of the stage. I was able to look over to the other side of the stage and see their class teacher, proudly (and sometimes nervously!) watching on, sometimes doing the dance moves along with the class, and beaming with pride when they took their final bow. We are all so proud of our incredible students!

I’d like to acknowledge the efforts of our amazing specialist team, who have worked so hard this year putting together this production - no small feat! Ms Cousins, Ms Deng, Mr Merriweather and I (Ms Ranson) have been been working so hard behind the scenes to bring our production to life, and it was amazing to celebrate this work with a showstopping final production.

Congratulations students - what an amazing show!
