Year 3 Sacrament of Reconciliation
Over the past few weeks, our Year 3 students have been preparing for their Reconciliation Liturgies. 3CJ celebrated on 7 October, 3MA on 14 October, and 3JM on 21 October. In the lead-up to these special occasions, the students spent time learning about the four stages of forgiveness and reflecting on the story of Zacchaeus, discovering how kindness, honesty, and making things right are all part of God’s message of love and forgiveness. Each class celebrated a beautiful and reverent Liturgy, where students demonstrated great respect and understanding of this important Sacrament. We thank our families and school community for joining us and supporting the students during this very meaningful time.
Year 2 Royal Botanic Gardens Excursion
On Monday the 13th October, the Year Two students participated in an excursion to the Royal Botanical Gardens. The weather was perfect and the students learned so much. A big thank you to the Year 2 Parent Helpers that came along to support.
One of the activities included potting their own plants in the Kitchen Garden. The students also discussed ways they could be more sustainable in the garden including the recycling of fruit and vegetables for the compost. The Kitchen Garden also provided a space where insects have a home in the ‘Insect Hotel’. The important role of bees, as pollinators, was also highlighted. Students were able to use their senses to smell the different herbs and other plants in the garden.
The highlight would have to have been the creation of their own cubbies. Students used their creativity and the design process to make their own cubbies with bamboo, dried palm leaves and sticks. There were some amazing creations. After lunch, we ventured into Fern Gully and listened to the sounds of the small stream in this rainforest area. We also found the Guilfoyle's Volcano on our travels in the arid plant area.
