Mrs Jayarani Salerno, Assistant Principal Students

As we approach the end of the school year, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding contributions of our student leaders in 2025.

Our Student Agency Team has worked with great enthusiasm and commitment throughout the year. They have actively gathered student ideas and feedback, and have been instrumental in progressing initiatives such as exploring a new winter jacket option and increasing seating around the school. We sincerely thank them for their dedication to encouraging and supporting student voice. To celebrate their efforts, we enjoyed a well-deserved break-up lunch together – a small token of appreciation for all they have done.

Our Year 12 leaders – including our College Captains, Mission Captains, Pastoral House Captains, Cultural Captains, Academic Captains, and First Nations Captains – have led with integrity, compassion, and a strong sense of responsibility. Balancing their leadership roles with the demands of Year 12 studies is no small feat, and they have done so with grace and maturity. They are a credit to the College and to their families, and we thank them sincerely for their service and leadership throughout 2025.

We recently held a special handover lunch to celebrate the achievements of our 2025 College Captains and to welcome our 2026 Captains. It was a humbling experience to witness the wisdom and heartfelt advice shared by our outgoing leaders, and the thoughtful, mature questions asked by our incoming Captains. The respect and admiration shown by the 2026 leaders toward their predecessors was truly special and a testament to the strength of our student leadership culture.

Reminder: Pastoral Sports Shorts Update

A friendly reminder that the old pastoral sports shorts will be phased out at the end of 2025. As part of the 18-month transition, all students are expected to wear the new pastoral sports shorts from the beginning of 2026.

These can be purchased in Mareeba at Tina’s Fashions.

As we look forward to finishing the year strong, we remind families that the final day of school – Friday 28 November – will be a fun-filled celebration of a fantastic year. We encourage all students to attend and join in the Christmas spirit as we wrap up 2025 together.
