Principal's Message

Mrs Kylie Bryant - Principal

Welcome to Term 4, always one of my favourites despite the fast pace and incredible amount of things we manage to squeeze into this quarter of the year. I am excited for the end-of-year events, the celebration of learning, the achievement of milestones and the culmination of a wonderful 12 months of education and community.

Last Monday our staff came together to reflect on the work we are doing in the area of PBL, in particular on ensuring the use of consistent language and high expectations across the school. As a staff we also engaged in our second session of Cognitive Load Theory, where we learnt about the structure of the brain, working and long term memory and the implications this has on teaching and learning. Both of these areas will continue to be built upon in 2026.

While we may be in the last term of the year, we maintain our relentless focus on teaching and learning with lots of learning opportunities across the term. We are currently busy assessing your child’s learning progress, allowing us to make informed judgments when writing reports. Last week Stage 2 participated in a wonderful excursion that enriched their learning and understanding of Aboriginal perspectives and our students who participate in the Community Language program engaged in an exciting dumpling making session with Mrs Dong and some amazing parent helpers. This week our senior students begin their end of year dancing journey with the Footsteps program and our 3-6 students start the much anticipated basketball program next week. Our Stage 1 excursion is around the corner, as well as the Epping District Music Festival, Kindergarten Orientation, Band Information Night, High School Transition fortnight and all the exciting end of year events. There is lots happening!

I would also like to inform you of a new High Potential and Gifted Education initiative called Genius Hour that we will be trialling later in the term in weeks 7-9. During this time, your child will engage in a small group project every Wednesday afternoon from 2-3pm. The High Potential and Gifted Education Policy highlights four domains of potential. These include – Intellectual, Social Emotional, Physical and Creative. We believe that every student shows particular strengths in at least one of these areas and we can further develop their potential through explicit teaching and a focus on harnessing the potential they are already displaying. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

Our community calendar is up to date so please take a moment to take note all of our events for the term. We hope you can join us!

Technology Upgrade

Thanks to the combined efforts of the P&C and the school, we have just placed an order for $70 000 worth of new technology that will arrive later this term. This will see an influx of new laptops as well as STEM technology. We are excited by the opportunities this new technology will provide and look forward to sharing more information, photos and projects in future newsletters.

New School Website

The school is currently engaged in a full school website upgrade. It is expected that the

new website will become live in the second half of the term. Mr Chong, Mrs Price and I are busy updating and creating new content and are excited to share this with you. Once the website is live, we would love to hear any feedback you might have, what you like, how we might extend on what has been created and also anything that you feel might be missing and should be included.
