From the Principal
Term 4 – Week 4
Wow! Term 4 is really flying by; we are getting closer and closer to the halfway mark of the term.
School Camps
A busy week last week with our Year 3 to 6 class away on school camp. The Year 3 and 4s had a fabulous time at Stradbroke while Caleb was away with other school leaders at Tallebudgera. I would like to commend everyone’s behaviour while we were away. The consistent demonstration of kindness and respect to everyone around you was amazing. Along with the resilience and determination by everyone to give each activity a go was great to see.
Guitar Lessons
Due to Mr Brandon being away we will not be having guitar lessons in weeks 5 and 6.
Swimming Nominations
Included in your newsletter this week is the nomination form for our Interhouse Swimming Carnival. Please go through the nomination form with your child and send it back to the school office asap, remembering that each child only swims the one event per stroke. These nominations will also be used for the Small Schools Carnival. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Some further information regarding the carnival is included in this newsletter.
Transitions
It is Term 4, and it is that time of the year to start thinking about school for 2026! If you, or anyone you know has children starting in Kindergarten or Prep (or any grade) in 2026, please have them contact the school to discuss enrolment.
It was great to see our first Kindy and Prep transition day take place and to see everyone enjoy their time making new friends. Please continue to share information about these transition days. There are 3 more transition days to go this term.
Nominations are open for Bus Driver of the Year Awards
I may be biased but I think we are a very lucky community to have not one but two amazing people who transport our students to and from school every day. Thank you Di and Bruce for doing this each and every day, along with all of the transporting you do, to and from school excursions and camps.
Nominations are open for Translink’s 2025 Queensland Bus Driver of the Year Awards, recognising drivers who go above and beyond for their passengers. Students (with parental consent) can nominate drivers of school or public bus services that display a route or service number. Submit your nomination in the school category for a chance to win a $150 gift card. Nominations close 2 November.

Coming Up
Week 4
Our school is participating in Day for Daniel on Thursday 30th October.
Students are encouraged to wear red to raise awareness for child safety.
It’s important to educate children about personal safety, help them identify unsafe situations, teach them to react and empower them to report abuse and seek help.
As part of Day for Daniel, our school will also participate in Australia’s Biggest Child Safety Lesson. This year the lesson focuses on creating safer online and offline environments for children.

Week 5
Spelling Bee and Public speaking competition is being held at Westmar on the 7th of November. Good luck to all students who are participating in this competition.
Kind regards
Mrs Anna Jones
