Principal News

We wanted to inform you about an additional curriculum day scheduled for Monday, July 15th. On this day, our staff will be working closely with our Education Improvement Leader to enhance our Numeracy program. This collaborative effort is aimed at refining our teaching methods to ensure they are as effective and beneficial as possible for our students.

Please note that Monday, July 15th, will be a student-free day. As a result, students will now return to school on Tuesday, July 16th, following the Term 2 holidays.

Looking ahead, here are the remaining student-free days for the year:

  • Friday 24th May
  • Monday, July 15th
  • Friday, August 2nd
  • Monday, November 4th

Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to improve our educational programs.

This week our students in year 3-6 classes have been participating in the Attitudes to School Survey. These surveys gather information from students on their perspectives about their experiences at school and wellbeing. Student responses are anonymous and once the information from students is compiled, it will be used to inform the types of programs and supports that students are responding well too as well as give insight into areas where the school might improve or change. This survey is implemented in all Department of Education schools and is an important temperature check for schools.

Last week we celebrated Education Week with various special events to celebrate Education at Banyan Fields Primary School. On Wednesday 15 May we had Grandparents and Special Persons Day. This event was well attended with classrooms open for visitors to join in all the fun of our classroom programs. I would like to thank  all of the Grandparents and visitors who came along to make this day extra special. We have also had our book fair running with many students making purchases. Thank you to Mrs Mac who goes above and beyond to coordinate this as part of our Education Week program.

On Friday 10 May we hosted a Mother’s Day breakfast club which was a wonderful community event and lovely opportunity to acknowledge how amazing mothers  and the people who play the role of mothers are. We also had our Mother’s Day stall with students purchasing special gifts for their loved ones.
