LITERACY:

Our students have been very industrious in their Literacy classes during term 2.  The main assessment piece the students were asked to complete was to write a Narrative basing the storyline on information they had learnt during term 1.  They chose a main character for their stories from one of the following times in Australian History - Early Indigenous Life, The Convict Era, The Gold Rush and Bushrangers.  We also took the students on an excursion to Glenrowan and Beechworth that provided them with the meaningful experience of learning about what life was like during the Gold Rush The main focus of the excursion however was the Ned Kelly story. This helped each student to have a better understanding of what it was like to be a bushranger in those times.

The students learnt that a narrative must include an introduction, a problem and a solution. They were given time to complete their own research about their chosen topic before beginning. Each student based their storyline around the main character they had chosen. Some of their research included finding and choosing names that were relevant to that period in time. The students who were really engaged in this task and completed this story to the best of their ability should be very proud of their efforts, as we are.

NUMERACY:

This term, students delved into the world of measurement in their Maths classes. Utilising the Essential Assessment program and Maths Pathway. They worked in collaborative groups to explore the nutritional content of various products. By examining sugar, fat, salt, and caffeine levels, they applied mathematical concepts in a practical and engaging way. Next semester, the focus on measurement will continue, building on the skills and knowledge gained this term.
