Year 1 Kangaroos and Cockatoos

The Year Ones have enjoyed an exciting start to the school year getting to know each other, building new friendships, settling into their new classrooms and enjoying a variety of learning experiences.

Last week there was an extra buzz of excitement throughout the Year 1 classrooms! During our digital technology lessons, we were lucky enough to explore a brand-new coding resource, ‘’Indi Robots.’’

Each coloured tile commands the car to move in a particular direction. We were set the task of creating a path that the Indi car would follow, without deviating off the tiles. In small groups, we had loads of fun problem solving, thinking creatively and turn taking to code our Indi robots.

Both the students and teachers were so engaged using this new resource, we could have easily spent all day coding our new robots! We are super excited to explore this new resource more this term during digital technology lessons. Our teachers have already begun brainstorming other ways to integrate the Indi robots into other learning areas as well!

We just know that this year we will continue to have so much fun learning in Year 1!
