Year 3/4 Community excursion

Exploring our National Park "The Flats walk" and Kidstown.

In the final week of Term 1, the 3/4 community was fortunate to participate in a local excursion to Mooroopna. Filled with enthusiasm, a scavenger hunt to complete and willingness to head off, the students commenced the excursion by exploring “The Flats” walk. This walk explored life in the Flats from 1939 to the present day. Reading the plaque and investigating and imagining living in the Flats area was fascinating.

Some students made us proud by choosing to pick up rubbish on the walk and created a challenge for themselves to get the most rubbish.

After the flats walk was completed, students were able to meet a national Parks representative, Emma. Emma discussed the impacts of flooding, her role, and how we can support National Parks and care for them.

Following Emma, students were given the opportunity to explore the Kidstown playground for two hours, playing in all areas, and experience the equipment. Everyone was smiling while all the spaces were explored.

Mr Lindeback engaged students with a big game of tiggy, and we were thrilled to witness the students sharing the playground and taking it in turns to make experiences fair.

Overall, everyone was beautifully behaved, and it was great to see everyone getting along so well during the day.
