Dear Parents/Carers,

Mother’s Day Liturgy

This morning, OLHC came together to honor the wonderful mothers, grandmothers and mother figures in our lives. As we gathered for a liturgy and prayer service we acknowledged mothers, the unsung heroes of our lives. Mums play vital roles in shaping who we are. They are our first teachers, our constant supporters, and our unwavering pillars of strength.

This year, as we approach Mother's Day, it carries a bittersweet resonance for me personally. For the first time, I will not have the opportunity to celebrate with my own mother, who passed away earlier in the year. Losing her has illuminated the profound importance of cherishing the time we have with our dear mothers and grandmothers while we still can.

Reflecting on my own memories as a boy, I recall whenever we ventured to McDonald's, my mother would always insist she wasn't hungry and preferred a meal at home. As a blue-collar, new migrant family with limited financial means, indulging in 'fancy' takeout was a rare treat. Yet, unbeknown to me at the time she consistently chose to forgo her own meal so that we could enjoy just that little bit more. Her profound selflessness and quiet humility continue to serve as a guiding light for me in my life.

As we honor our mothers and grandmothers, let us remember the countless sacrifices they make for our well-being. Their love knows no bounds, their strength knows no limits.

To all the mothers and grandmothers in the OLHC community, I extend heartfelt wishes for a wonderful Mother's Day. May your day be filled with love, appreciation, and the joy you so richly deserve.

Thank you

Working Bee reminder

Our Term 2 Working Bee is scheduled for Saturday May 18th between 9.00am and 12.00pm.

There are three main 'projects' for us to work on:

1.      Repairing the retaining walls on Dudley St

2.      Spreading mulch around the garden beds and filling the raised garden beds with soil

3.      Filling the sand pit with sand

If you are unable to make the working bee next Saturday there is still an opportunity to help the school with pruning, gardening, weeding or lawn mowing at a time that suits you. Please contact me for further detail. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.
