Main Campus - Year 4

It’s been a very busy fortnight for Year 4 students! Thank you to Mrs Collins who replaced Mrs Ireland while she was overseas.

We were first up with school photos with all Year 4’s having a photo together with the guinea pigs. We are excited to see our whole group photo!

Last week, we participated in Swimming Lessons at Kyneton Sports and Aquatic Centre. Students learnt about pool and water safety, rips, tides and dangerous creatures in the ocean, as well as participating in swimming lessons. Students swam in normal clothes over their bathers and practised removing them in the water. As expected, the flippers and fun on the boards was a hit on the final day. A big thank you to all those parents who came and helped across the week. Thank you also to the swim teachers at KSAC for running such a fantastic program for schools.

It was an absolute pleasure to see so many Year 4 students participate in the CDSSA Cross Country at Hanging Rock on Tuesday the 9th May. We witnessed some great dedication, persistence and true sportsmanship. Congratulations to Daisy in 4AI who came 1st in the 10 year old girls! Good luck at the Division Cross Country at Castlemaine on Friday Daisy!

Last Friday, Years 2, 3 and 4 participated in a Brainstorm Productions Incursion called “Sticks and Stones”. Students greatly enjoyed the educational theatre experience and it provoked great discussions around resilience, cyber safety and anti-bullying in an engaging and age appropriate way. In the show, a student goes into fight/flight mode as soon as things go wrong. Throughout the show, the student learnt how to deal with anger in a more positive manner. It was a great learning experience and thoroughly enjoyed by all!

As part of our Integrated Studies, we have been learning about the 3 tiers of government. This week, Joseph’s Mum Rebecca, came to speak to us about the role of the Macedon Ranges Shire. Thank you for volunteering to come and share your work with us Rebecca!

We are excited that today is change over day for 4LS and 4SM! 4SM will now be at Carlsruhe for the remainder of the year. 4LS will head back out to Carlsruhe towards the end of Term 3. 4AI stay at Carlsruhe to teach 4SM the ropes!

It was lovely to see so many families at the Mother’s Day Morning Tea. We hope everyone had a lovely Mother’s Day, the students were so proud of the cards they wrote!
