This week we have been celebrating Education Week. It’s been an opportunity for us to showcase the excellent teaching and learning that is taking place at Gilgai Plains Primary. Our school is a fantastic example of what government schools have to offer. We have great teachers and we offer a great education. I hope you have had the chance to view the video posts on our Facebook page, where our students have shared some of their learning. Our newsletter articles from our classrooms also offer a good insight into what your child is learning at school. I hope you give yourself the time to enjoy these.
Together with the School Council and our Student Leaders (who represent all students), we prioritise the outdoor resources needed for our growing school. So far we have added to our original playground by building another playground for our youngest students, a Ninja Warrior Course for our senior students, put in cricket nets, artificial grassed areas, a GaGa pit, shade sails, a giant screen in our gym, colourful concrete markings and soccer goals - not bad for 2 and a half years of operation. We have many more things on our list and a clear plan for their execution.
In early June, work will commence on our next project, a cover over our basketball/netball courts. This cover will provide protection from the elements and enable our teachers and students to use the courts more during winter, as well as on the high UV days. The cover should be finished by Term 3.
At Gilgai Plains, we know that primary school must build a strong foundation in all curriculum areas, especially literacy and numeracy. It is vitally important and we take our work very seriously. Education gives our students choice in what they do in later life and what they can achieve. Education week is every week at Gilgai Plains. Thanks for your support in making our school great.
Kind regards,
