Year 1
Police Liaison Visit
We had a Cyber Safety incursion last week with our Monash Youth Resource Officer/School’s Police Liaison Officer, Leading Senior Constable Heath Williams.
Senior Constable William’s spoke to the children about the role of the police, being safe riding bikes, at the shopping centre and talking to strangers. He also discussed tips for cyber safety and sharing personal information online.
There was high engagement and many interesting questions related to the role of the police and how they help and support our community. The students also learnt about cyber safety and how to engage in online games safely, such as Roblox. Roblox is generally suitable for ages 9 and up, as it contains repeated mild violence, heavy unrealistic blood, and/or mild crude humour.
Marvellous Minibeasts!
Year 1 students will participate in a Minibeast incursion on Monday 20 May. We're looking forward to an amazing experience facilitated by Labcoat Learning, that will be a wonderful hands-on experience for the students to delve deeper into their Integrated unit of 'Minibeasts'. Each Year 1 class will take part in their own individual session. Each session will begin with a dress-up, focussing on minibeast features and body parts. Then the students will rotate through the different activities, adding additional information including life cycles, food chains and adaptations.
Incursion information has been published on Compass. Consent and payment is due now and not later than next Friday, 17 May. CSEF can be used for this activity; please contact Barb or Cassy in the Office to check your CSEF balance.
We will celebrate all we've learnt with a Minibeast Dress Up Day on Monday 3 June.
