Performing Arts

Hi Everyone,

This term is all about DANCE!!! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8…

All year levels have the same central idea for Term Two Dance - ‘We can use our bodies to communicate ideas and intentions to an audience’ - but they will be exploring different topics. The year level term topics are…

Foundation - Our Bodies that Move / Senses help us explore the World (Linked Unit with the classroom and Visual Arts)

Year One and Two - Organised Dance (The Dance Map)

Year Three and Four - Students will finish off their Short Stage Plays from Term One and then begin World Dance (Hip Hop / Cha Cha Cha / Jazz)

Year Five - Students will finish off their Clowning Routines from Term One and then begin Flash Mobbing

Year Six - Flash Mobbing

We had great fun over the last couple of weeks putting the foundations down for the new units. In particular, Foundation, Year One and Year Two students loved the Dance Relay. Some of the class participated in this fun-moving activity, whilst the other half observed and acted as judges - looking for the grooviest dance moves. Teams had to travel at a different level from the previous team member and create/name their dance moves. The students came up with some really cool names, such as The Twirly Whirly and The Hippity Hop. This was a great activity to just laugh, have fun and step outside our comfort zones. Below are some photographs:

I’m looking forward to the term ahead of DANCE!!!
