VCE Play: ‘Dolly Stainer of Kew Cottages’

Aitken College Performing Arts is proud to present this year’s VCE Theatre Studies production, Dolly Stainer of Kew Cottages by Janet Brown. The play is based on the real-life story of Dolly Stainer.

In 1905, Dolly Stainer was sent to live at Kew Cottages as a 5-year child as the state had nowhere else for her to go. She lived there for over 80 years, with her birds and the other residents and staff who became her friends and her only family.

The play is about support and inclusion and how it can make a difference in the lives of others. The Year 12 Theatre Studies class take on responsibility for this production, with all the elements of it forming their major assessment.

We welcome members of the Aitken College community to come to support the students in what is sure to be an outstanding production. Please note that the production contains some strong themes, so viewer discretion is encouraged. The production is not recommended for children under the age of 15.
