Careers

This week the VCE and Careers Expo (https://www.vceandcareers.com.au/) and later this month the Victorian Careers show (https://www.victoriancareersshow.com.au/) will take place. These are great events at which to make a start on your course and career research with a lot of information and resources in one place so you can explore a multitude of future options.  For students who have a good idea of what they would like to pursue on completion of their secondary schooling, these Expos can also be of benefit if they are offering specific information sessions or seminars which interest you.

Year 10 students

Term 2 is an important and exciting term in the Year 10 Careers calendar. Lots of preparation takes place to assist students so that they are able to make wise decisions in Term 3 for 2025 and beyond.

On Friday 3 May, Year 10 students undertook the Morrisby Profile and the Reports generated will be discussed and used in their Careers in Life Skills classes over the following weeks.  We hope your children will take the opportunity to share their Reports with you and some interesting and animated discussions ensue.

Morrisby can assist students to discover more about themselves and help drive their career planning.  It is an opportunity for self discovery and reflection and provides the chance for students to think about their strengths and abilities, while exploring potential career options, giving them the confidence to start taking control of their future.

Careers staff deliver two Careers classes to Year 10 students during their Life Skills lessons in Term 2 where we unpack the Morrisby and students learn about the VCE and VCE Vocational Major programs, subject selection and useful careers resources. We are very much looking forward to meeting the Year 10 students in class.

Year 12 students

Year 12 students will travel by bus to attend the La Trobe University Tertiary Information and Exploration excursion on Wednesday 29 May.  This is an important excursion for students considering further study at university next year or in the future. It is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the options available to them post secondary school. They will be able to meet with, and talk to, representatives from La Trobe University and attend seminars and hands on workshops. Even if students are not planning to study at La Trobe in the future, many important lessons can be learned and transferrable skills developed on this excursion which will be very useful for future course and career research.  Permission slips for this excursion will be sent to parents via Consent2Go later this term.
