Gospel Reading
John 15:9-17
Jesus commands his disciples to love one another.
What kinds of obstacles did you face in your race? How did you overcome them? Were some obstacles more difficult than others? Why? What makes an obstacle course challenging? Why do we choose to run an obstacle course?
In today’s Gospel, Jesus commands his disciples to love one another as he has loved them. I really believe that all of us want to love others as Jesus showed us to love. But sometimes we face obstacles in showing our love for others. What do you think? What obstacles do we sometimes face when we try to show our love for another person?
Jesus also calls us his friends, and he showed his great love for us in his sacrifice on the cross. God raised Jesus from the dead, and Jesus continues to help us show love to others. One way that he helps us is through the promise he made in today’s Gospel. Jesus said that God will give us whatever we ask for. One of the things we ask for from God is help overcoming the obstacles to loving other people.
Thank you to our Grade 2 R students and Mrs Russell / Ms Trish for leading us through a meaningful commemoration of ANZAC Day.
Thank you to our honoured guests Ann and John ( our local RSL Veterans) who graced the occassion by their special visit to our school.
On such a special day, our students are always encouraged to think about how they can continue the legacy of the ANZACs by promoting peace, unity, and understanding in their own lives and communities.
On Sunday, May 5th, all Grade 3/4 students are scheduled to participate in the 9:00 a.m. Parish Mass. This Mass serves as a Presentation for our Eucharist Candidates, who will receive the Sacrament of Eucharist on Sunday, June 2nd.
Following the Mass, we invite you to join us for morning tea. You do not need to provide any refreshments for this event. This initiative aims to foster partnerships between the families and students of St Peter’s School and the parishioners of St Peter’s Parish Church. It is an integral part of our curriculum and strengthens our sense of community as a Parish and School.
Furthermore, parents are expected to accompany their children at Mass. The students will be assigned various tasks before and after Mass, so punctual arrival by 8:50 a.m. is essential.
Details are as follows:
Workshop 2: 15th May, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Sacrament of Eucharist: 2nd June at the 9:00 am Mass at St Peter’s Catholic Church, Clayton.
It is essential that at least one parent attend this information session to enable you to support your child’s faith development.
This session is for both parents and students.
Attendance at this session is cumpulsory before your child can receive the Sacrament of Eucharist.
Thank you to our parents / carers who attended our Grade 5-6 Faith Night on the 1st of May. This was an opportunity for our community of different faith backgrounds to come together, learn about each other's beliefs, practices, and traditions, and foster mutual understanding and respect.
Thank you to our dedicated staff, Mrs Bowen and Ms Chamberlain for you commitment to
celebrating the diversity within our community, showcasing the richness of various religious and cultural traditions.
Happy Mother's / Mother Figure Day !
On this special day, we wish you moments of joy, love, and relaxation. May your day be filled with warmth and cherished moments with your loved ones.
Dear God,
We thank you for the gift of mothers and mother figures.
For their love that knows no bounds,
For their strength in times of need,
For their wisdom in guiding us on life's journey.
Bless all mothers with health and happiness, Grant them patience and courage,
Fill their hearts with love and joy,
And surround them with your divine grace.
May they find peace and fulfillment in their role, And may their children always cherish and honor them.
Amen.
