Message from the Principal
St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.
Dear Families,
Welcome to the third week of Term Two.
This week, our school community gathered for a special ANZAC Day assembly led by our Year 2 children. We were deeply moved as members of our local RSL and our own students shared touching tributes and songs. As we reflected on the ANZACs, our hearts and prayers went out to all those affected by conflict, especially those who are currently suffering and experiencing war.
We were reminded of our responsibility to be peacemakers in our lives and relationships, following the model of Jesus, who taught us to love one another and seek reconciliation.
As we honour the memory of those who served, we pray for peace in our hearts and the world around us:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
Mazenod College Outreach Program
Last week, we were delighted to host 40 Year 12 students from Mazenod College, who engaged with our Year 5/6 students in activities centred on personal identity. Alongside exploring self-awareness and cultural diversity, the Year 12s also offered valuable tips to assist our Year 6 students with their transition to Year 7. This session marked the first of three, with more exciting experiences to come.
Year 3-6 Cross Country
Our Year 3-6 students had a great time at our cross-country event at Fregon Reserve last week. We even had dads joining the race, too! Thank you to Mrs Tash and our parent helpers for their support and cheer squad enthusiasm. Congratulations to those who advanced to district, and to all the children for giving their best effort.
Monash Teddy Bear Hospital Incursion
On Wednesday, our Foundation and Year 1 students enjoyed a visit from the Monash Teddy Bear Hospital, led by Monash medical students. This initiative aims to ease children's fears of medical environments. It was a fantastic day, and our teddies are feeling much better thanks to the care they received!
Year 5/6 Family Faith Night
Thank you to our teachers, Mrs Bowen and Ms Chamberlain, and all families who joined us for the Year 5/6 Family Faith Night. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore scripture and discuss how we can further God's mission as a family. Reflecting on Jesus' analogy of Himself as the vine and us as branches, we were reminded of the importance of staying connected to Him to bear good fruit.
Classroom Helper Information Session
Thank you to all our Junior School parents and carers who attended Tuesday's highly successful F-2 Classroom Helper Information Session. If you were unable to attend but would still like to be a classroom helper, please contact our literacy leader, Bronwyn Chamberlain, at bronwyn.chamberlain@spclayton.catholic.edu.au.
