Opening Mass

The Opening Mass brought our College community together in a spirit of welcome, unity, and faith as we began the new school year. Students and staff gathered to celebrate our shared identity as a Catholic community and to entrust the year ahead to God’s guidance and grace.

The Mass invited us to look forward with joy and hope, inspired by Pope Leo’s dedication of this year to St Francis of Assisi. St Francis’ spirit of peace, humility, and care for all creation offers a powerful model for our community as we strive to live with compassion, courage, and generosity.

As we begin this new year together, we pray that our College continues to grow as a place of welcome, learning, and faith, and that every student feels supported and inspired on their journey.

Bible Ceremony

On Tuesday, our Year 7 students took part in a beautiful and meaningful Bible Ceremony as part of their introduction to Religious Education at the College. Each student was formally presented with their own Bible, symbolising the beginning of their faith and learning journey in high school. During the ceremony, students learned about the significance of the Scriptures, and the importance of the Bible, reminding them that the stories in the Bible provide hope and guidance.  A special unwrapping ritual helped students understand the Bible as a gift. These Bibles will remain at school for the students to use regularly in their Religious Education classes.

Gratitude Pops Launch Term 1 Caritas Fundraising

Our Term 1 Caritas fundraising kicked off in the sweetest way possible with the launch of Gratitude Pops, and it was a huge success. The Learning Centre had a line out the door as eager students rushed in to buy a $1 lollypop paired with a personal handwritten message of gratitude for friends, teachers, and staff.

While the price tag drew them in, the generosity kept flowing. Many students chose to spread the love far and wide, with some purchasing Gratitude Pops for their entire friendship group. A teacher even bought them for a whole senior class, and of course there were plenty of messages of appreciation sent to Rhonda, our much-loved canteen manager.

This event was entirely student-led and showcased the incredible leadership within our community. From promoting the initiative at assembly, to setting up the stall and gratitude writing stations, our student leaders worked tirelessly. They then spent hours sorting every single lollypop into the correct pastoral class for distribution. In total, an impressive $900 was raised.

Gratitude Pops will be distributed in pastoral classes after Valentine’s Day, creating a moment that truly reflects our Lasallian value of inclusive community. It was a joyful reminder that small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
