Principal's Message

Mr Stephen Mahoney

Dear Parents and Caregivers

A very warm welcome back to all our students and families as we begin the 2026 academic year.

In particular, I would like to extend a special greeting to our Year 7 students as they begin their high school journey, and to our Year 11 cohort as they embark on their senior studies. To all our new families joining the St Aloysius College community: we are delighted to have you with us, and we trust that your time here will be both rewarding and memorable.

As we move through the second week of term, I am pleased to report an exceptionally smooth start to the year. Our staff have been incredibly impressed by how quickly and purposefully students have settled into their routines and engaged with their learning.

My hope for 2026 is that our community is defined by a spirit of generosity and goodwill. By working together, we can continue to nurture and educate your sons and daughters, supporting them through their individual pathways and toward success in their HSC journey.

I highlighted the following four key messages to students when speaking to them:

  • Engage in the college life of our school.
  • St Aloysius’ students will always compete in everything we do…no excuses.
  • Staff at our College always seek to care and support you.
  • The Five Core LaSallian Principles underpin all that we do.

A few further tips from me for the beginning of the year:

  1. Begin your time at St Aloysius with good (study) habits
  2. Use the College’s Learning Centre/Library
  3. Collaborate with friends in times of study
  4. Have effective study notes - see any of our College staff for assistance
  5. Seek feedback - know what you’re doing right...but know areas to improve
  6. For senior students complete HSC practice papers - submit to College staff. Repeat.
  7. Look after yourself - mentally and physically. Never be ashamed to ask for assistance.
  8. Do the little things right…be on time to school/class - it's about routines.
  9. Have a sense of pride in wearing the new College uniform - it says a lot about you.
  10. Foster good relations with the College staff - it’s about relationships.

This project is a testament to our commitment to excellence in education and our vision for a vibrant, forward-thinking campus here in Cronulla.

St Aloysius College Cronulla | Annual Improvement Plan 2026

I share with parents two of the broad goals of the College’s Annual Improvement Plan for 2026.

  1. Consistency across the College regarding processes and procedures.
  2. Embedded differentiation across all Key Learning Areas/subjects - clearly visible within programs and reflected through assessment tasks.
