Acting Principal's Report

  Ben Ridge

Assistant Principal - Jacob Johnson

Thankyou

Thank you to all members of our school community—parents, staff, and students—for the warm welcome you have shown me. I am truly grateful for your kindness and support. It has been wonderful getting to know you and seeing the strong sense of connection. I appreciate the time, conversations, and encouragement so many of you have shared. I look forward to working together, building relationships, and supporting the students to. Thank you for making my start here such a positive experience.

Positive Classrooms

I would like to congratulate the students for participating actively in their classrooms, it has been pleasing to see students engaged in their learning and actively participating. Well done to the student award winners who were presented at the assembly, it was a lovely way to celebrate the achievements of the students.

Social Media

This is a reminder that social media platforms require users to be at least 16 years of age. These age restrictions are in place to help protect young people’s safety, privacy, and wellbeing online. We ask families to support this requirement by monitoring children’s access to apps, accounts, and devices. Open conversations at home about responsible online behaviour are strongly encouraged.

Curriculum Day

Please remember that Monday 2nd of March is a whole school curriculum day. During this day staff will be learning about Disability Inclusion, plan preparation and adjustments within the classroom. Staff will complete a learning walk at Echuca Twin Rivers Specialist School; this will focus on the Positive Classroom Management Strategies.

SunSmart Policy: Hats On

All students are required to wear their broad brimmed hats, even when playing or participating in activities under any shelters.

Our SunSmart Policy is based upon the Cancer Council guidelines that hats should be worn when UV levels are above 3 on the index (usually around the beginning of September in each year). We source this information from the following website:  www.bom.gov.au/products/UV/Bendigo_VIC.shtml

Please remember that only our school hats may be worn. These can be purchased from the office for $12.

1st September… Hats Remember.

1st May… Hats off Day.

Naming Clothing

Please clearly name all clothing (including hats) so that it can be quickly returned to its owner. We have white material markers in the Office, and we will happily record student’s names on hats and clothing if needed.  Just send your child/ren to ask for help.

Easter Raffle - Egg donations

We will be running an Easter Egg Raffle this term. That means we will be in need of Easter Egg donations to the office as soon as possible. Our community is so generous in this space and we thank you in advance for contributing to the prize pool.

Communication

As parents and carers, you will at times need to meet with classroom teachers to clarify classroom programs and sometimes discuss problems that may have arisen. The teachers and Leadership Team will endeavour to meet and discuss any range of school issues as soon as possible, however, please be aware staff meetings occur each Tuesday and Wednesday nights straight after school. There is an assumption all teachers will attend meetings on time. No teacher will dismiss your question or concerns, so calling to organise a time to meet will ensure the question or issue can be addressed with plenty of time and no interruptions. Don’t forget you can always message on ClassDojo, email or call the school on 54 107 700.
