National Skills Week 2026
Week 6 was National Skills Week which celebrates the skills, people and pathways that shape careers, strengthen communities and support the future workforce.
This year’s theme, Life Changing, highlights how skills can build confidence, create opportunities and lead to rewarding careers. Skills can begin at school through vocational education, training, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.
Inverell High School students have been engaged in the Educational Pathways Program - TAFE Start Your Future initiative, learning new skills in Animal Care. They have learnt basic animal care and how to wash and groom a dog.
TAFE Start Your Future initiative helps student identify potential career pathways through vocational tasters which provide students with industry specific hands on experience and care guidance and pathways information.
School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs)
Congratulations to our Year 10 student, Andy, on securing a School Based Apprenticeship in Certificate III in Barbering.
