PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Good afternoon,
I cannot believe we have come to the closing of another school year.
Whilst another busy year, a rewarding one at that. So many accomplishments within classrooms and specialist classes, along with extra-curricular activities along the way.
Thank you to the School Council for their support and efforts throughout the year, to parent and friends who have volunteered in classrooms, sporting events, camps, local walks, resourcing and so much more. To Simone and David for keeping us safe when crossing the road and being such active members of our community. Thank you to our local businesses that support us throughout each year, along with families in our community. Without this support we would not have the amazing resources and facilities that we do, like our new resurfaced sports courts that opened last week. Your contributions enhance the learning opportunities of all of our students, and we thank you for that.
I would like to acknowledge once again the staff that are leaving Chilwell this year; Emily Angliss, Erin Howell, Kate Rhind, Brodie Saunal and Jaime Blackney. They have been wonderful members of our community, and we wish them every success in their next chapter. We wish Nikki Robertson and her family all the very best for the arrival of their new baby. We cannot wait to have cuddles with the new bundle of joy in January.
To our departing students and their families in Grade Prep to 5, good luck at your new schools, and to our Grade 6 cohort, well done on completing primary school and good luck with all of the adventures that secondary school will bring. Stay in touch, as we would love to hear how you are going next year and beyond.
Finally, to the staff here at Chilwell. Thank you for all that you do, for being active and present members in our community and for committing to the growth of the whole child, all of our students and supporting them in their primary school journey.
A quote from CEO David Meade (and a parent) at The Leisure Networks 2025 International Day of People with Disability Lunch last week was brought to my attention by another parent demonstrating what inclusion looks like;
‘Every person was seen, heard, and valued. Belonging does not happen by chance; it happens because we choose it… we just have to start.”
This parent went on to say, that his 3 children enjoy going to school, because they feel like they really belong and that is special. ‘The staff, students and their families at Chilwell have created something special.’ That we have, and thank you to everyone!
Have a great break everyone, enjoy the holidays, and please look after our school grounds.
See you in 2026.
Kind regards,
Meg
