From Nick, Senior School Science teacher
Grade 3/4
In Science, students explored Oobleck, a mixture of cornflour and water that can behave like both a solid and a liquid. Students experimented with different amounts of water to see how it changed the texture and movement, then discussed what this could tell them about the states of matter. They learned that some materials don’t fit neatly into one state, which helped them think deeper about how scientists classify substances.

Grade 5/6
Students investigated chemical reactions by making their own sherbet, combining citric acid, icing sugar, and flavouring crystals. They discovered that when the sherbet touches moisture it fizzes as a chemical reaction occurs between the acid and the base, releasing carbon dioxide gas. Through this experiment, students explored how new substances can form during reactions.
