Performing Arts News

From Dan, Patrick and Sam, Performing Arts teachers
Oh what a wonderful week!
Our Arts Festival Week was an amazing whole school event, and we are so proud of our students and their achievements!
Thanks to all the families who came along and watched the performances which ran over three nights.
Beyond writing scenes, devising dances and practising songs and music, in the lead up to the concerts there was lots of work behind the scenes, from organising costumes and props, to transforming the Gyms at both campuses into theatre spaces.

For our concerts, P-2 students went from Under the Sea, to a re-telling of West African Anansi stories, to a spectacular ABBA dance finale.

Our 3-4 students journeyed through time, with lots singing and dancing along the way.

The Grade 5-6s explored Parties and Celebrations, presenting multidisciplinary scenes with lots of student voice and input.
We have been gathering student feedback over the past week or so, and it’s been great to hear students reflect on how working with others and building confidence were two of the core skills they gained through the process of devising, rehearsing, and performing their scenes. It was also great to know that our P-2 students had … fun!

We are looking forward to continuing our work with all our wonderful students at NMPS, collaborating, learning, building skills… and having fun along the way.
